The Purpurea Group is a collective name for beech selections with purple to copper coloured leaves. The colour intensity can vary depending on seed, growing conditions and weather. It is often more vivid in spring, and may fade to a coppery green over summer. Will tolerate any well-drained soil except heavy clay. Best in full sun. Hardy.
