A glossy leaved evergreen which quickly forms a naturalistic screen or formal hedge. 'Rotundifolia' has rounder leaves. Attractive white flower spikes appear in spring with careful timing of pruning. Hardy. Great in deep shade. Easy to grow but harder to establish on alkaline or chalk soils. Harmful if eaten.
