Planting Services

Correct planting is absolutely critical for tree establishment, so if you are inexperienced with tree planting, we highly recommend you avail of our in-house planting service. We do offer a full establishment guarantee on all stock we have planted for added peace of mind.

Those deliberating over whether or not to plant themselves are encouraged to visit our Planting it Yourself page to see what the process entails.

Our Planting Service Options

We customize our planting services to suit the circumstances of each order, but generally offer two main levels of service. For both services, younger trees are secured by the traditional cross bar stake-and-tie method, and larger specimens with state-of-the-art overhead or underground Platypus anchorage systems.

Full Planting

When a Full Planting Service is requested, we take complete responsibility for the planting process from arrival of your trees kerbside to removal of all debris from site as required. We are proud to guarantee establishment of all trees we plant, subject to aftercare instructions being followed.

Our standard, complete planting service includes:

  • marking out of planting position if required;
  • excavation of planting pit;
  • placement of tree in planting pit;
  • staking/anchoring as appropriate;
  • installing a deep watering perforated pipe (more mature stock only);
  • backfilling the hole with a mix of the best existing topsoil, high quality tree and shrub compost (reduced peat) and slow-release fertiliser tablets;
  • watering in as necessary;
  • removal of excess soil from the site (if required);
  • aftercare instructions and telephone/email support (or avail of our optional AfterCare Service for onsite support);
  • an Establishment Guarantee, subject to our Terms and Conditions for aftercare.

Planting into Pre-Dug Holes

This reduced fee basic service enables us to extend our establishment warranty to those who can provide the manpower for pit preparation and excess soil removal but may lack the specialised equipment or experience to offload and plant the trees.

  • offload and positioning of tree into tree pit prepared to specification by the customer by prior arrangement;
  • staking/anchoring as appropriate;
  • installing a deep watering perforated pipe (more mature stock only);
  • backfilling the hole with a mix of the best existing topsoil, high quality tree and shrub compost (reduced peat) and slow-release fertiliser tablets;
  • watering in as necessary;
  • removal of excess soil from the site (available as an optional extra);
  • aftercare instructions and telephone/email support (or avail of our optional AfterCare Service for onsite support);
  • an Establishment Guarantee, subject to our Terms and Conditions for aftercare.

(Note: it is crucial for this service that the pits are prepared to the sizes specified by Majestic Trees, and that best soil is left next to each pit, and not mixed with any poor subsoil. Failure to do so may result in additional costs).

Costs involved

We have well over 200 heavy duty matting that we can provide at an additional fee to protect your beautiful lawn.

Planting costs vary dramatically depending on stock size and access, so you may find it helpful to discuss these aspects with your advisor early in the selection process. (The independently minded may wish to review our Fleet and Machines, Choosing Specimens of Optimal Size and Access Considerations pages). We will prepare a firm quote as your order begins to take shape, but as a very rough guide, costs for planting labour start at £85 plus VAT.  Planting supplies (stakes, compost, etc.), delivery and machine hire costs are costed separately.    You can get a very rough idea of delivery costs to your area by using the Delivery Cost Estimator your Treefinder Enquiry Basket.

Limits of liability

Electricity cables and underground services

Whilst we make every effort to avoid hitting electrical cables or underground services, please note it is the customer’s responsibility to alert  us of their presence.  We cannot take responsibility for any damage to services if we have not been notified of their specific location prior to excavation.  We do have our own Leica Digicat 200 which we can bring to site if you suspect underground cables may be present.  However, no liability for any damage is accepted or implied even if we do provide this service, as some cables are difficult to detect.

Other limits

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for further details.
