Despite its common name this species isn't a cherry but belongs to the dogwood family. In February the naked crown unveils a remarkable display of small, yellow flowers. Come autumn these are followed by bright red, coffee bean-like edible fruits. Excellent for preserves. Very elegant with rich, green leaves turning reddish-purple in autumn. H7
