Steve McCurdy - Managing Director
Steve received his initial commercial horticultural education and training at Thomas Rochfords & Sons and Oaklands College of Agriculture and Horticulture in Hertfordshire. In 1979 he was selected for a one-year work experience in the US, and after his return worked in horticultural sales before he immigrated to the US to marry Janet. Together, they went on to build the largest independent interior landscape company in Southern California, which won 93 national and stateside awards. He served on the boards of both national and state trade organisations including 5 years as chair of the main industry convention. He was honoured to be the 2002 interiorscape inductee into the Interiorscape Hall of Fame. They returned to the UK in 2000 and sold their US company in 2001 to focus all of their energies on Majestic Trees, which has culminated in the containerised tree nursery. With over 48 years of horticultural experience, Steve travels extensively searching for the finest specimen trees throughout the year.
Janet McCurdy - Company Secretary
Janet acts as the Company Secretary and has worked alongside Steve for over 40 years of their married life. She can turn her hand to almost anything, whether it be projects, sorting out the storeroom, or advising on corporate issues for the company. She has a MA, a strong administrative background and has been involved in the family business both here and in the U.S. She works closely with the office and accounting staff, supporting their efforts with her knowledge and experience. She sold her 50% of the company to the EOT (Employee Ownership Trust) in 2023, and now spends considerable time along side Steve mentoring the next generation.
Helen Morgan - Finance and Human Resources Director
Helen joined Majestic Trees in 2008 and has wide experience in the corporate world in human relations, insurance matters, recruitment, etc. She has an HND in Business and Finance, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and is a part qualified accountant. She handles both accounts receivable, payable and payroll in addition to HR, insurance matters, pensions, etc. and works closely with the management team to ensure the company always runs smoothly when it comes to all our financial affairs.
Jane Poyner – Customer Service & Administration
Jane joined our team in 2006 and is the first person you will normally meet whether you visit the nursery or call. She also works behind the scenes and manages our general enquiries by e-mail and other systems and structures invaluable to the smooth operation of the company. She has a strong administrative background and brings with her over 20 years of experience as a PA and Project Administrator for a large organization, and nothing is too much trouble.
