Sales & Advice
Sarah Shynn - Sales Director
Our Sales Director, Sarah, has been with Majestic Trees since 2004 and specialises in designing planting schemes and treescapes for those projects which require a high level of design advice. She is the longest standing and most experienced member of our sales team, valued highly both for her creative expertise and pragmatic business sense. She draws from well over 30 years of experience in garden design, landscape sales and as a grower in a nursery. Her formal training includes an HND in Commercial Horticulture from Writtle College of Agriculture and Horticulture, and a distinction in Garden Design from Capel Manor. In 2011, Sarah was honoured by her industry peers by being awarded 'Sales Professional of the Year' at the UK Grower Awards, and serves on our Senior Management Team.
Alan Williams – Horticultural Advisor & Team Leader
Alan started his working life in horticulture, initially as a green keeper rising during his 15 years to a nursery manager of hardy plants. Trying to raise a young family, he felt forced to leave growing and then spent a number of years outside horticulture in sales, before seizing the opportunity in early 2017 to combine his horticultural and excellent customer service skills by joining our team. Alan is very approachable and friendly, works hard and is always calm under pressure. He is a great support to the horticultural advisory team, were he trains and mentors the team, as second in department to Sarah, our Sales Manager.
Sophie Davies - Horticultural Advisor & Site Visits
Sophie has been an avid gardener since her childhood, having grown up growing veg and flowers with her father, and later her partner who is a career horticulturist. After an eight year management career in fashion, getting on the train every day to London or flying around the world on business, the pandemic made her re-evaluate her career so she decided to start again and do something she loved for the rest of her life. She enrolled in RHS Horticulture courses and completed her studies with Distinction, joining our team in January 2022. She quickly hit the ground running, making her presence felt, providing site visits where she offers great customer service, sound advice and excellent follow up skills.
Andrew Austin - Horticultural Advisor
Andrew is one of our most experienced advisors, and puts his considerable product knowledge and outstanding customer service skills to excellent use. Andrew has over 35 years’ experience in horticulture on large estates, tree nurseries, arboretums and in garden centre management. He initially joined us as a horticulturist in early 2007 working on the nursery as a grower before transferring to the sales department. He has an Ordinary National Diploma in Amenity Horticulture from Askam Byran College of Agriculture and Horticulture. Andrew is renowned for his patience and reliability, out of which has grown an ever-expanding, loyal following of repeat customers.
Andy Miles - Horticultural Advisor
Andy started his horticulture career in 1998, and prior to joining Majestic Trees in 2008, had been on the Wyevale garden centre management track. A real people person, this comes through in his willingness to instantly drop whatever he is doing when a customer require assistance. He has a Higher National Diploma in Horticulture from Oakland’s College of Agriculture and Horticulture in Hertfordshire, and his tree knowledge is second to none. Andy can tell you almost anything about a tree – whether it be preferred soil type, height in ten years, or susceptibility to disease; he is almost a walking encyclopaedia!
Louisa Marriott – Horticultural Advisor
Louisa originally joined us on a short-term maternity cover contract in 2014, but she was so good we persuaded her to stay. After having her son Findlay she returned P/T, and is still providing customers with advice and is very good at offering practical and logical solutions to their queries. She studied at the Berkshire College of Agriculture where she graduated with a National Certificate of Horticulture, she has worked in a number of horticultural roles, including managing the sales at one of our competitors, running her own business and being a horticultural advisor to a council planning department.
Peter Kennett – Horticultural Advisor
Peter joined us in 2020, and quickly proven himself as someone you want on your team. Having completed his BA in Business and Marketing from Sheffield University, he found that working fulltime in an office environment was not for him. Having worked in garden centres whilst at university, we were very pleased when he decided to follow in his father footsteps and come to join us, were he became a valued colleague for his hard work and great attitude, and has machine tickets for telescopic forklifts, skidsteers and truck mounted forklifts. He then left us for 6 months as he fancied doing nursery sales, but when he heard we had an opening in our sales team, jumped at the chance to come back. He has quickly settle back in with the sales team, and his experience with hands on planting is invaluable to customers.
