A small tree with a low, rounded head. Deep red-purple leaves that turn a brilliant wine red in autumn. Best in a moist but well-drained loam, sheltered from cold winds. Can be intolerant of clay soils and vulnerable to droughts. A decorative, hardy and slow-growing variety ideal for a small garden. H6
