An upright and dense cultivar, columnar when young, then spreading somewhat with age. Leaves unfold bright red, then maturing to shades of purple-red and reddish green in summer. Excellent red autumn colour. Young twigs are coloured deep burgandy. Up to 4m tall and 2.5m wide; perfect for smaller spaces. Requires neutral to acidic, well-drained soil and shelter. H6
