A very hardy, compact and spiny, deciduous shrub reaching only 1.5m. In spring, as the small green ovate leaves unfold, clusters of yellow flowers appear followed by elegant, shiny red berries and accompanied by brilliant orange to red autumn colours. Does well on all free-draining soils, sheltered or exposed. Not for full shade. H7
