The Yellow birch is easily recognized by its yellowish-bronze, exfoliating bark for which it's named. This slow-growing, long-lived tree likes moist, well-drained soil but also thrives in dryer locations. Quite narrow when young, it broadens with age to establish a wide oval habit. A very decorative, hardy and highly underrated park tree. H7
