The wild species from which the famous 'jacquemontii' derives. A broadly oval to conical tree with peeling coppery bark. Produces catkins in early spring, with a dark green summer foliage which phaes to yellow in autumn. Hardy. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. A shallow rooting tree.
