A bushy rounded shrub with glossy dark green leaves which are notched at the tips. Hardy. Slow growing. Very dense. Ideal as low hedging for parterres or sculpted into simple shapes. Does well in any well-draining soil, alkaline as well as acidic. May be sheltered or exposed, as long as it's not planted in full sun. RHS hardiness rating: H5
