Higo is a unique, centuries old style of Japanese camellia, typically with 5 to 9 very large and iridescent petals and from 100 to 250 stamens in each flower. 'Hiodoshi' features bright red petals with a very large rounded cluster of yellow stamens. Glossy, dark-green foliage. Best sheltered in dappled sunlight. Needs well-drained acidic soil. RHS hardiness rating: H5
