An excellent cultivar, smaller and slower growing than the species with a handsome, broadly-oval habit and gorgeous reddish-purple spring growth. In summer and autumn, the foliage matures to match that of the common hornbeam although it does retain purple hints along the leaf veins. Can handle periods of drought and is suitable for paving. H7
