The Chinese redbud is not as hardy as the other species but given a sheltered location it will not disappoint. In contrast to the more common purple cultivars, 'Shirobana' offers a dazzling display of white, the flowers unfolding on bare branches in spring soon followed by the handsome dark-green, heart-shaped foliage. Good yellow autumn colour. H4
