A rare and most attractive species with a broad, wide-spreading habit and lustrous, bright-green leaves which are downy-white beneath. Clusterns of fragrant white flowers with fringe-like petals bloom in May-June followed by blueish-black berries enjoyed by birds. Good yellow autumn colour and lovely peeling bark. H6
