A very ornamental, small shrub or tree, valued for its very distinct tiered growth habit and its attractive silver margined leaves. Small white summer flowers and the blueberry-like fruits which follow (not edible!) add additional interest. Fairly tolerant of most fertile, moist soils. Shallow rooting.
