An impressive dogwood with rich, dark-green, evergreen leaves. In April to June a profusion of flowers, decorated by beautiful white bracts, cover the tree; these are followed by edible, strawberry-like fruits. These can even be used to make wine. Prefers a location in dappled shade, but can grow in full sun. Does well in all moist soils. RHS hardiness rating: H5
