The kousa dogwood is a deciduous tree of upright habit native to eastern Asia. The tree is extremely showy when in bloom in late spring. Tiny flowers are surrounded by showy white bracts then followed by sweet, edible, pinkish-red globular fruits. Resistant to dogwood anthracnose disease. Not for poor, shallow, chalk soils. Hardy.
