This curious species of hazel was found in a hedgerow in Frocester, Gloucestershire in 1863. It is easily spotted from afar with its twisting, curly branches and leaves. Undoubtebly best in winter and early spring when the branches are bare and can be admired together with the decorative catkins. Attractive and querky shrub growing well in any soil. Hardy.
