A slender evergreen, prized for its wood; second only to bamboo in China. The green to blue-green pointed needles are finely toothed and spirally arranged. The brown bark of mature trees exfoliates in strips to reveal very attractive reddish-brown inner bark. Small, oval to round brown cones. Requires moist but well-drained soil and shelter. H5
