Related to witch hazel and Persian ironwood, distylium is an excellent, but rarely used, evergreen shrub from Eastern Asia. The cultivar 'Linebacker' offers a dense, upright habit with bright-red juvenile spring growth maturing to glossy, dark-green. Attractive wine-red flower clusters in winter to early spring. Final height 2.5-3m. Drought tolerant once established. H5
