A quick growing, evergreen plant best grown in a sunny location -ideal against a sunny wall. Large leaved foliage gives a tropical effect. Clusters of strongly fragrant hawthorn-like flowers after a hot summer followed by (if another tree is close by) unique edible orange or yellow fruits. Excellent in pots. Can usually withstands brief exposure to temperatures below -5C, but survival cannot be guaranteed in these conditions. RHS hardiness rating: H4
