Once a very common sight in our English hedgerows, the spindle is a spreading shrub or smaller tree which may seem somewhat anonymous but once autumn approaches few compare in beauty. The canopy is set ablaze with a deep red colour and decorated with gorgeous bright-pink seedpods which crack open to reveal orange seeds. H5
