A form of the classic Beech with an erect, pyramidal to columnar habit which brings interest and structure to a planting scheme. Quite narrow as a young tree but broadening with age. Foliage is a fresh light green in spring, deepening to a dark green in summer, with warm autumn tones. Suits well-drained soil, including chalk, but avoid heavy clay. Shallow rooting.
