This is the only surviving species of the plant order Ginkgoales, which dominated the tree flora 150-200 million years ago. It is deciduous tree with bright green, duck's feet-shaped leaves that turn brilliant gold in autumn. Attractive, corky bark. Ginkgos are highly valued street trees due to their high tolerance of pollution and geographic climat range.
