The Chinese witch hazel has large, softly hairy, rounded leaves which turn a soft yellow in autumn. It is a bushy deciduous shrub growing up to 4 metres in height. Throughout winter it has clusters of large, sweetly fragrant, golden-yellow flowers from December to March. Prefers a sheltered position in slightly acidic soil. H5
