A soft-leaved, female holly with a rich emerald green, chestnut-like spiny foliage, here beautifully trained into an attractive pleach. Small white flowers in spring followed by masses of red berries in autumn (if male plant nearby). Best in free-draining, humus-rich soil in full sun or part shade. Prune 1-2 times a year to retain shape. Non-invasive roots. H5
