A widely grown broad leaved evergreen popular for its glossy, aromatic foliage, often used in cooking, and for its responsiveness to clipping, pruning, and training. Commonly cultivated as a half standard (mop head), full standard, pyramid, or even with a braided stem. Thrives in coastal regions. ADVISORY: Hardy to -5c, and normally survives short periods of lower temperatures, but requires protection from prolonged exposure for survival. RHS hardiness rating: H4
