Though often grown as a shrub or hedge, the Japanese privit is most handsome as a tree. Its curved branches and variegated canopy creates an interesting architectural focus. Bears white flower in summer followed by black berries which last through winter. The tree may drop its leaves below -10, but they soon grow back. NOTE: Toxic berries. RHS hardiness rating: H4
