Native to southeastern China, this broadly vase-shaped magnolia bears fragrant, tulip-shaped flowers on bare branches in mid-spring which are very resitent to frost. Handsome mid-green foliage summer foliage turning yellow in autumn, accompanied by attractive, red cylindrical fruits which crack open to reveal red seeds. Grows up to 12m tall. H5
