As the name suggests, 'Sentinel' is a magnolia which rises to claim its place in the garden. The habit is broadly-columnar and matures to a good 10m (30 feet) but has been seen to reach closer to 15m (50 feet). The flowers, emerging in late March, are tulip-shaped, pale pink with a deeper blush on the outer petal. Plant sheltered in acidic soil. H6
