A distinct and charming, slow-growing Japanese shrub forming a compact rounded specimen usually wider than high. Pink buds open up to pale-pink flowers in March to April then fade to white before giving way to lush, mid-green leaves. Buds are sensitive to frost and morning sun. Tolerant of clay but dislikes alkaline or chalky soils. Hardy.
