This cultivar is a sport of 'Gala' that was named 'Royal Gala' by McKenzie after a visit from Queen Elizabeth II, who was so impressed with the 'Gala' apples that she requested more. Colour is bright orange/red flush, red stripes over gold. Cream coloured flesh which is rich, honeyed and juicy. Flowering group D, partially self-fertile. H6
