A highly valued evergreen with remarkably fragrant flowers, often seen as ornamental garden specimens or hedging; its flowers also commonly used in Asia for tea and cooking. Unfolding in clusters in late summer and autumn, the small white flowers delight passers-by with their sweet, apricot-like scent. Great on all free-draining soils. May drop their leaves in persistant cold temperatures. RHS hardiness rating: H4
