An attractive, holly-like evergreen with a dense oval crown and lustrous, dark-green leaves. The flowers unfold in autumn, and although not showy, their Jasmin-like scent is simply amazing. It grows well in semi-shade and direct sun and prefers medium levels of water. Adapted to chalk, clay, loam, peat, and sandy clay soils. Hardiness rating H6.
