Native to the Rocky Mountains, Colorado spruce is a narrow, pyramidal conifer with horizontal branching to the ground. 'Hoopsii' is a dense pyramidal cultivar that is most noted for the excellent silvery-blue color of its needles. Pendulous seed cones emerge magenta-purple. Prefers acidic, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Slow to medium growth rate. Very hardy.
