Deciduous. A vigorous, quick-growing tree which will quickly provide a significant structure without being too heavy in crown. Recognizable by its smooth, marbled grey bark, large leaves, and bauble-like fruits which persist through winter and into spring. The London Plane provides an uplifting, cathedral-effect canopy, semi-transparent and enveloping. Widely planted in the streets of London and surprisingly well-behaved despite its large size.
