'Novita' is a fairly new cherry laurel cultivar. It is similar in habit to the species but has been found to be far more resilient in cold weather. The evergreen obovate leaves and mid green and very glossy. The flowers are fragrant, appearing in April then followed by black, glossy fruit. Tolerates shade well and most soils, though more difficult to establish on chalk. NOTE: Entire plant is poisonous. H6
