A very small, quirky, multi-stem tree or large shrub with a Seuss-like character, ideal for informal, architectural, or children's gardens. The large, pinnate leaves turn a stunning orange, yellow and purple in autumn, with 'candles' of dark orange to red flowers which persist through winter. Be aware, though, that Rhus typhina is not the most well-behaved of plants! It suckers freely and self-seeds, so saplings will need to be removed regularly to prevent them becoming a nuisance. Can be effectively used in courtyards with a solid surface. H6
