A French cultivar from the late 19th century producing sweetly scented upright clusters of classic pale-purple flowers, opening from dark-purple buds in late spring. Leaves are lush, green and heart-shaped, accenting the flowers. If needed, prune out any excessive branches after flowering. Tolerates renovation pruning. Loved by wildlife. H6
