An attractive woody climber with pinnate, dark-green leaves and fragrant, lilac flowers. In May, as the foliage starts to emerge, pendulous racemes provide a stunning waterfall-like effect of blue-violet flowers; these are later followed by bean-like, green seed pods. Requires regular pruning in order to control size and shape. Harmful if eaten.
