The sugar maple, native to North America, is a large tree with a broadly oval habit and graceful, upswept branches. The greenish yellow flowers unfold on bare branches in spring followed by mid-green leaves. Highly valued for its colourful autumn display of red, yellow, orange and scarlet. Not for crowded or polluted conditions. Very hardy.
